Burn Fat More Readily with These Super Fat Burning Foods

Updated on July 21, 2016

Your body’s ability to burn fat is not just about how much you exercise but also about the foods you eat on a regular basis. You can support your body in burning fat at a faster pace if you feed it foods that encourage the process to take place.

If you are not impressed with the pounds that have developed around your midsection then stop for a minute and see what foods you have in your refrigerator and your cupboards.

Certain foods have a higher level of fat burning power than others because they help the liver to do the best job it can. Why is the liver so important to the fat burning process? The liver is the number one organ that handles the fat that is digested from the foods you eat.

When you combine foods that burn fat quickly with regular physical activity, then you will be well on your way to waving goodbye to those extra annoying pounds that make you want to scream out loud!

As you start your fat burning foods quest just remember that you still must be mindful of how much food you eat as well as the number of calories you take in. Always remember the golden rule to not putting on weight- you need to burn off more calories than you take in every day.

Hit the Ground Running with Oatmeal:

How often have you been told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it provides you with the fuel your brain and body needs? Breakfast can also allow you the opportunity to increase your potential for burning fat.

Start your day by eating an old fashioned but tasty bowl of oatmeal. Oatmeal is a complex carbohydrate but is also a healthy type of carb. It will fill you up quickly and keep you feeling full until lunch time. This is because oatmeal does not digest very fast. This super food will also reduce any mid morning cravings you may have for fatty or sugary foods and it will keep your blood sugar at a normal level.

Eat a bowl of oatmeal plain or add a little bit of cinnamon and/or some fresh fruit for a little more taste enjoyment. If you choose to add milk to it then add skim milk. Oatmeal is a true fat burning food if you do not add unnecessary calories to it!

Burn Fat with Green Tea:

Sorry, but set aside that cup of java or any other type of caffeine drink.

Green tea is a kind of herbal tea that is excellent when it comes to burning fat. Drink it black without adding anything to it. Drink anywhere from two to four cups a day to increase the fat burning potential of this tea. Before you get up from the breakfast table after eating your oatmeal drink a cup of green tea.

Green tea is also rich in anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. Studies have suggested it may even prevent the onset of a variety of cancers. This makes it an all around healthy beverage to drink any time.

The Upside to Olives:

Olives are an acquired taste for some but they make the list of foods that help to burn fat.

The same can be said for olive oil which is beneficial in so many ways. Both olives and olive oil are made up of a healthy fat known as monounsaturated fat that is necessary for a healthy body and mind.

Similar to oatmeal, olives help to make a person feel satiated for a lengthy period of time and they also reduce cravings for foods that are anything but healthy. Olives and olive oil are also instrumental in lowering high blood pressure.

The Fat Free Side of Flax Seed :

Speaking of oils, flax seeds and flax seed oil are excellent for burning fat in the body.

Whether you eat the seeds, the oil or go with the powder formula, flax seed attracts oil-soluble toxins that are able to make their way into the body’s fatty tissues. Once there they can help to dissolve and eliminate the toxins that are fat-soluble and contribute to weight gain.

Garlic is King and Onion is His Queen:

Garlic and onion are both super foods that are abundant in phytochemicals which break up the fatty deposits that build up in the body over time. Fighting fat is only the beginning of what these two powerhouse foods are capable.

Garlic and onions also help to prevent heart disease and they break down cholesterol in the blood. They are also instrumental in fighting any number of bacteria, fungi and viruses that attempt to invade the body.

Go Green with Veggies:

Go as green as possible with the veggies you eat and you will get a leg up on fighting fat! Leafy green vegetables are plentiful in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and essential amino acids. They are also bulk dense foods that are full of fiber. That means they fill you up and prevent cravings while also keeping you regular.

There is nothing healthier than eating leafy green vegetables such as broccoli, bok choy, spinach, romaine lettuce, kale, mustard greens, and the list goes on. Other important functions of leafy green vegetables include helping to prevent cataracts, cancer and cardiovascular disease.

They also help to keep your memory as memorable as possible!

More Talk of Phytochemicals:

Phytochemicals are an important element of good health and they also have their share of fat burning potential.

Tomatoes contain the phytochemical lycopene as well as plenty of vitamin C. This red food is a winner all around! Lycopene gives way to the growth of an amino acid known as carnitine. Carnitine can speed up the body’s ability to burn fat by as much as one-third, according to research studies.

Beans and Legumes- The Forgotten Foods:

Studies have shown that not nearly enough people consume beans and legumes on a regular basis. They are for all intents and purposes, the forgotten foods.

This is unfortunate because legumes are one of the best all around sources of fiber you can eat. They are also helpful when it comes to losing weight and maintaining a healthy weight. Both of these foods keep blood sugar levels at a normal rate and they improve the work of the bowels.

Soy is an example that would fall into this category of foods. Soy works to break down fat that has been stored in the body.

Show Your Nutty Side:

Many people steer clear of nuts because they believe them to be high in fat content. Nuts when eaten raw and unsalted (and unflavored- don’t go for the barbecued ones!) are excellent for fat burning because they provide you with an extra burst of essential fatty acids.

The extra acids can then help you to burn fat more readily. Nuts can also lower your chance of having a heart attack by 60 percent. You do not need to eat a large amount of nuts to reap the benefits. Aim for small servings.

Cayenne - The Natural Antibiotic:

You may have heard that cayenne, which is a hot spice, can be made into cayenne pepper and from there it acts as a natural antibiotic for the body. Cayenne encourages the metabolic process to work faster and more efficiently. It also lowers the level of sugar in the blood.

This is good because it means no excess insulin will end up being stored as fat. If you want to drop some pounds then add a bit of cayenne pepper to some of your recipes. Just add a pinch though as it is very hot!

In Conclusion:

Add these super fat burning foods to your regular diet and coupled with exercise, you should soon see a drop in your weight. You are now on your way to being the slender person you once were.

Once you lose the weight, continue to eat these foods in order to maintain your ideal weight and also because of the other health benefits they yield.
